Setting the Stage for a New Era of Inspection

Fortis Engineering, in partnership with Eddyfi, successfully hosted a two-day technical seminar themed “Eddyfi vs Legacy NDT: Speed, Resolution, Accuracy” on November 11–12, 2025, at the Heliconia Park Hotel in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

The event brought together industry leaders, inspection professionals, asset integrity experts, and major operators for an immersive exploration of the future of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).

Day 1 opened with remarks from Rudolph Nel of Eddyfi, whose introduction prepared the room for two days of high-level insights and advanced demonstrations.
This was followed by a welcome address from Amechi Akabogu, General Manager, Marketing and Sales at Fortis Engineering, who emphasized the relevance of cutting-edge NDT in Nigeria’s energy sector.
In his address, Simeon Okara, Managing Director of Fortis Engineering, highlighted the strategic partnership between Fortis and Eddyfi and how this collaboration is shaping the future of inspection reliability across industries. His remarks transitioned into an open Q&A session, giving participants a chance to engage directly with leadership.

Deep-Dive Technical Sessions
The first technical presentation of the day was delivered by Jitender Yadav, who spoke extensively on Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) PEC Technology. His 1 hour and 30-minute session unpacked the complexities of CUI detection, followed by a robust question-and-answer segment.
Next, Jabu Manzini took the stage to discuss Long Range Ultrasonic Testing (LRUT)—a critical technology for screening long stretches of pipelines. His session also lasted 1 hour and 30 minutes and concluded with practical Q&A insights.

Expanding the Conversation on Modern Inspection
The second day began with a presentation from Vignesh Marriappars on FIST Inspection/Corrosion Mapping Technology, giving attendees a detailed view of advanced corrosion profiling methodologies.
Following this, Sampson Ori, Engineer, Technical Operations at Fortis Engineering, delivered a session on SNI Corrosion Monitoring, showcasing Fortis’ commitment to building local technical capacity in the NDT ecosystem.
The final session was led once again by Jitender Yadav, who presented on ACFM Technology—a powerful electromagnetic technique for surface-breaking crack detection. The segment ended with an engaging Q&A session that tied together the two days of learning.

Hands-On Equipment Display
A highlight for many participants was the live equipment exhibition, where attendees interacted directly with Eddyfi’s advanced inspection technologies. Expert representatives provided hands-on guidance and real-time demonstrations of tools including: CYPHER with NAVIC 2, LYFT PEC, Pipescan HD, Floormap FMX, SONYKS LRUT
These demonstrations helped bridge theory and practical application, giving participants a clear view of how modern NDT enhances inspection accuracy, speed, and reliability across asset types.

Driving Forward the Future of NDT in Nigeria
The two-day seminar reaffirmed Fortis Engineering’s position as a technical leader in the Nigerian energy and engineering sectors. By facilitating direct exposure to world-class Eddyfi technologies, Fortis continues to strengthen the capacity of local professionals while advancing global best practices in asset integrity management.
Fortis Engineering remains committed to empowering operators, engineers, and inspectors with tools and knowledge that meet the evolving demands of modern infrastructure.
